We go to war
To fight for them
The people we don't know


We go to war
Far away
We leave our homes
Our friends and family


We go to war
Not knowing if we will ever come home
We fight in a far away land
For people we don't know

We go to war
We are being killed by the hundreds
Not even close to our enemies
Sitting in trenches for days at a time


We go to war
Whether it is raining or sunny
We live in the trenches
They are our homes
They are our protection from the gunners
When we leave them we pray that we will live


We go to war
To fight for them
